It sure feels like I don’t post nearly as frequently as I used to. Sure enough:
- 2001: 65 posts in 6 months
- 2002: 127 posts in 12 months
- 2003: 53 posts in 12 months
- 2004: 71 posts in 12 months
- 2005: 43 posts in 12 months
- 2006: 13 posts (counting this one) in 10 months
And to be honest, the slight bump in ’04 is due almost entirely to posts focused around Shrub and the elections. So no, it’s not your imagination. So what happened?
Honestly… well, I’ve become a bit bored. Or maybe not so much bored as disinterested. In the back of my mind, I have these grand ideas about expanding this site beyond its current blog-centric focus, but I simply don’t care right now to commit the time and effort it would take to implement the changes. Actually, that’s not entirely accurate—I care, but the reality is that I don’t have nearly as much free time as I used to have, and what free time I do have (on weekends and such), I’d rather spend tooling around with my wife (New England is just plain awesome for tooling around) or working in the yard. So I guess it’d be more accurate to say I don’t care enough to take time away from those activities to spend on a web site.
Winter’s coming, though, so maybe that’ll help change things. Of course, by then, we’ll (hopefully) be well on our way to cranking up the various home projects we have slated (painting rooms and such). If it isn’t one thing, it’s another—maybe one of those anothers will be this site.
Stay tuned. Though, honestly, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t.
