About damn time

It finally got to the point where I could no longer ignore its call. Yes, after an absence of a couple of years, I signed up with a local gym. Of course, it helps that it’s the same gym at which my wife works out, but regardless, it needed to be done, and it’s good that it was (finally) done. I always felt better when I was working out regularly, and honestly, I can tell I’ve been a little off my game from being away for this long. But that’s all changed for the better now, and my first workout back this past Sunday felt absolutely wonderful. Sore as hell the next day, yes, but wonderful nonetheless.

Over the past couple of years, unfortunately, I’ve sort of let myself go (for me, at least) and am now clocking in at a not so svelte 170 pounds (!!!). (No one who has known me for any length of time—say, from back in college—has ever seen me at anywhere close to 170 pounds.) The goal is to get down to, say, 155, with a stretch goal of getting back down to my fighting weight of 150. (Wait, did I just say “stretch goal”? Damn, I need to step away from the office…)

Maybe I oughta stick a little tracker in the sidebar to help me keep up with this goal—nothing like a public reminder to spur you on, right?

Follow-up (Nov 05, 2005): Haven’t got around to doing a sidebar tracker, but here’s a progress report: As of today, I’m down to 164. Still targeting 155, for now.
