Please excuse the mess

I just upgraded to the recently released WordPress 1.5.1, and I figured now was also as good a time as any to (finally) change how I’ve been doing my permalinks, i.e., the links to the actual entries. I have now fallen in line with what appears to be the prevalent way of doing things these days, which is to use “pretty” permalinks (or “dir-ified” permalinks or whatever you want to call them)—that is, using the post name—instead of the post number in the permalinks.

Which means that, for awhile, search engine links (read: Google) will be busted, but they’ll catch up soon enough. (For readers hitting the site from Google, et al., I apologize for the inconvenience, but I’ve been wanting to do this for some time now. Redo the permalinks, that is, not inconvenience you.)

…from Nashua, NH, our home for at least the next six months. It took thirty some-odd hours of driving to get up here, so I think we’ll stick around for at least a little while.

First day on the new job was like any other first day on any other new job: getting comfortable, feeling your way around, figuring out if you made the correct choice.

First day in the new apartment: well… let’s just say it’s been about 15 years or so since I’ve lived in an apartment, and frankly, after having spent the intervening years in houses and townhomes, I could go at least another 15 before living in another apartment. But we’ll manage.

Still, it’s good to be back.
