The Texas A&M men’s basketball team has secured a berth in the postseason NIT, hosting Clemson in a first-round matchup on Wednesday, March 16th. The Aggies (19-9, 8-8 in Big 12 play)—in the midst of an amazing 12-game turnaround from last season’s 7-21 record (including 0-16 in conference play)—will be making their first postseason appearance since the 1994 NIT.
But wait, that’s not all! The A&M women’s basketball team has also been invited to the postseason Women’s NIT, hosting Tulsa, also on Wednesday. The Aggies (14-14 in the second year of coach Gary Blair’s “Blair Hoops Project”—what a great moniker) won the championship of the WNIT in 1995 but haven’t made a postseason tourney appearance since the 1996 NCAA tourney.
Postseason basketball at Texas A&M—a new tradition?
