Football starts in only 205 more days…

For those of you who care about this sort of thing (like I do), the 2003 football recruiting campaign ended yesterday when thousands of high school seniors signed national letters of intent to play for their chosen college team. And Texas A&M pulled in a mighty nice haul—one respected recruiting service rated it the #9 class nationally, for what that’s worth.

The proof will come when these kids eventually hit the field, but I was definitely happy to see the Aggies land a bunch of what Keith Jackson would call “big uglies” up front on both sides of the ball (including one of the top-rated offensive linemen in the nation), a glaring weakness for A&M the past couple of years.

I’d say the Coach Franchione era is off to a fine start.
