It’s official—we are witnessing the beginning of the end.
Texas A&M fell to Oklahoma State today, 28-23, their first loss to the Cowboys since 1988. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 5-4 on the season (2-3 in Big 12 play).
With games remaining against Oklahoma next weekend (prediction: loss), Missouri (toss-up), and Texas (loss), it’s highly likely that the Aggies will finish the season with a 6-6 record—and it’s not out of the realm of possibility for the Aggies to finish below .500. Pessimistic, perhaps, but I’ve seen little to convince me that this isn’t at least a possibility. The team has forgotten the fundamentals (or they’re not being coached to them), and it shows. And it’s hard to win without fundamentals.
The S.S. Aggie has hit the iceberg and is quickly taking on water. Coach R.C. Slocum—prepare to go down with the ship. Send out the S.O.S.—while we still can.
