Today was the first day that high school football players could sign official letters of intent to play for the various college teams, the end of a long and sometimes silly recruiting season. By all accounts, Texas A&M did quite well, with the Aggies’ recruits being ranked among the top 15 or 20 signing classes in the nation by many of the so-called experts.
The jewel of the class was QB Reggie McNeal out of Lufkin, TX, a mobile, strong-armed passer generally ranked among the top 5 recruits overall in the nation. I can’t remember the last time the Aggies snagged a QB like this, and it should be interesting to watch him and the Aggies over the next couple of years.
Oh, by the way… the 2002 season kicks off August 31st: Texas A&M vs Louisiana-Lafayette at Kyle Field.
