As promised (threatened?), it’s now time to unveil the latest redesign of my site. Aside from the visual changes, I am now running Movable Type as my weblog backend, replacing the relatively venerable Greymatter engine—you may not notice any difference, but I most (as a maintainer) certainly do.
You will note, however, that I still haven’t got around to making any of the menu links active aside from the Home and Archives links. There’s lazy, there’s really lazy, and then there’s me. All I can say is “I’m [still] working on it”.
Almost forgot to mention this…
Last night while we were at the mall, we bought our wedding rings! Actually, my sweetie had spotted her ring in a catalog mailed to our house, and we decided to go look at it after dinner. (We’d picked out my ring long ago; we just hadn’t got around to buying it.) After looking at the rings—my ring happened to be found in the same store—we just decided there was no time like the present and bought them on the spot.
So like I said, I guess this makes this whole wedding thing a bit more official, eh? In other words, she’s pretty much stuck with me now. :-)
And the audience groans “oh god… not another redesign already…”.
Today is my first full day back at work. Note the “full”—I actually came in for a couple of hours on Monday… dumb idea… definitely not too bright… besides, what was the rush to get back to work, right? Anyway, it basically ended up costing me Tuesday as well, but now I’m in good enough shape (really!) to get some work done.
Monday afternoon, I develop this awful pain and pressure in my abdomen, starting in the lower right area and spreading upwards. I figure it’s a horrible case of gas and take some over-the-counter stuff before going to bed. Didn’t help at all, and I ended up being restless (and sleepless) all night.
Tuesday, the pain and pressure are still there, and I’m just feeling uncomfortable in general. So now I’m thinking it might be the joys of constipation, so I get some stuff for that. And on the off chance that it’s something more serious (and at the urging of my sweetie), I make an appointment with my doctor for the next day.
So now it’s Wednesday… and I’m feeling a whole lot better. I mean, tons better. But since there’s still a little bit of discomfort, I go ahead and keep my appointment. He can’t rule out appendicitis, even if I’m exhibiting none of the classic symptoms aside from the location of the pain, so he sends me to the hospital adjoining his office’s medical plaza, just to get checked out and eliminate anything more serious.
They check me out. Their initial tests come back clean, too, but the doctor in charge harbors the same suspicions as my own doctor and orders a CT scan—again, just in case. And lo and behold, I’m in the early stages of appendicitis. A couple of hours later, I’m having my appendix removed, and now, two days after that, I’m back home, sore as hell but in fine shape otherwise.
And my office did send me a nice cookie bouquet basket. :-)
