@Home

We were (finally) migrated over to AT&T Broadband Internet’s network Monday morning, meaning that we once again have cable modem access from home. ATTBI is capping downstream speeds at around 1.5 Mbps; we’re running pretty close to that limit (1.3-1.4 Mbps, according to various tests), so I guess I can’t complain. Actually, I suppose I could, seeing as how our prior (uncapped) speeds were in the 2.5-2.8 Mbps range, but oh well…

One thing, though: Since being connected to ATTBI’s network, my home firewall has been under constant assault by unauthorized HTTP requests. Say hello (again) to the script kiddies! (Excite@Home had been filtering these packets before, so they never even reached my firewall; ATTBI may need to do the same thing, hint hint…)
