The good news: A&M Consolidated—my high school alma mater—won the annual Crosstown Showdown with Bryan on Friday, 14-7, earning a spot in the Class 5A playoffs while knocking Bryan out of postseason play in the process. The win also nets me a free lunch at Double Dave’s and a case of Shiner Bock, courtesy of a well-timed bet with Pedro (a Bryan alum) at work.
The bad news: Texas A&M stunk up the joint yesterday in Norman, falling to Oklahoma, 31-10, in front of a national TV audience. The Aggies netted a paltry five first downs and 132 yards of total offense for the entire game; the defense scored the team’s only touchdown. They fall to 7-3 on the year (4-3 in Big 12 play), with only the annual grudge match against Texas remaining. We’re going to get killed.
