Saw the premiere episode of the latest Star Trek incarnation, Enterprise, last night. All in all, not too bad for a pilot episode, though there are definitely some rough edges (it’s a pilot—big surprise). I was very pleased to see them get away from the ultra-sterile universes of ST:TNG and Voyager, instead giving this Star Trek world a decidedly less polished feel.
It will probably never be another Babylon 5, but then again, what will? (Note: B5 = one of the two best sci-fi TV series ever, the other being The X-Files.) I’m still willing to give it some more time—unlike, say, Voyager, which was stomach turning from the get-go.
Of course, I’m under the distinct impression my sweetie thinks the Enterprise pilot was the worst piece of crap she’s seen in a long while.
The opening theme song, however, is truly awful. The only way it could have been worse is if Michael Bolton had been singing it. Really.
